The Suicide Squad: Every Character Explained

11. Ratcatcher 2

James Gunn has made no secret of his love for the Suicide Squad property as a whole, and in particular, the original John Ostrander run. The director has said he looks at this movie not as an adaption of this run, but more of a sequel.

With this, we can expect a lot of loyalty to the source material, however Gunn is also guaranteed to take some creative liberty with some of these characters. One such member of the team is Ratcatcher 2, a male character from the comics that will be portrayed by Daniela Melchior in 2021.

Batman Ratcatcher
DC Comics

The Batman villain's power revolves around rats in the same way Ant-Man's revolves around ants. The character known as Otis Flannegan in the comics made his first appearance in 1988, and has the unique ability to communicate with, and train rats. As another character with no previous ties to the Suicide Squad, there is obviously a reason Gunn has chosen to include Ratcatcher 2, and it promises to be well worth it.

For the time being, it's unclear why the character is known as Ratcatcher 2, rather than just Ratcatcher. The character could be taking over the mantle from another villain in the movie, or it could simply be a nod to the fact that this is a completely different, gender swapped version the comics.
