The Suicide Squad: Everything You Need To Know About Starro

9. He Is The Justice League's Oldest Foe

Starro The Suicide Squad
DC Comics

Starro may not be as well-known as some DC supervillains such as Lex Luthor or the Riddler. Nevertheless, he has a special place in the hearts of many comic fans since he's the first supervillain the Justice League ever faced.

In The Brave and the Bold #28, the tentacled beast battled Wonder Woman, Aquaman, the Flash, Green Lantern, and Martian Manhunter. The story begins with Aquaman learning of Starro from a puffer fish called Peter (secretly the best Super-Pet, obviously), and after the giant starfish uses his psychic powers to learn of the Justice League's weaknesses, Starro prepares to take over the city.

However, the team learn their sidekick, Lucas "Snapper" Carr, is completely immune to Starro's telepathy. This is extra peculiar since Snapper has no superpowers (apart from the ability to snap his fingers very loudly).

Since Snapper was mowing the lawn that day, the League deduce the garden lime he used rendered him immune to mind-control. After Green Lantern basks Starro in barrels of lime, the Star Conqueror is defeated. To thank Snapper for indirectly saving humanity, the Justice League make him an honorary member of the team.
