The Suicide Squad: Ranking Every Death From Worst To Best
3. Savant
If you hadn’t seen any of the marketing materials for The Suicide Squad, or were blissfully unaware of the involvement of Idris Elba and John Cena, the opening scenes of James Gunn’s DC debut would have had you believe that Michael Rooker’s Savant was the main character.
Everything was done from his perspective, as Rick Flag introduced him to his new teammates as part of Task Force X. However, like the majority of the team on the Corto Maltese beach, he died almost immediately, only this was not at the hands of Presidente Luna’s armed forces.
In David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, one member of the team had to be eliminated in order to show how ruthless Amanda Waller was, and how serious her threats were. This was the wildly expendable Slipknot five years ago, but the role this time went to Savant.
Seeing the death and chaos on the beach, Rooker’s character tried to flee, swimming away into the ocean, only for the team’s overseer to trigger the bomb implanted in his head.
As the sun rose the next morning, Savant’s faceless corpse was being picked at by a small bird in what was some morbid payback for the one he killed in his cell before he left.
