The Truman Show: 5 Reasons Jim Carrey Will Never Pull Off Serious

1. He's Tried This Before, And It Failed

The Cable Guy Do any of you remember The Cable Guy? Of course you don't, because it sucked. It was terrible. This was Carrey's first attempt to go straight, and it failed. Audiences didn't like it. No one liked it. It was dark, uncomfortable, and just plain unpleasant. Do you know what movie Carrey did after Cable Guy? Liar Liar, which is hilarious. Liar Liar was a success. Cable Guy was a flop. Carrey is great at physical comedy, and he's not the type of actor who would work in a drama. I mean, think about it: Bruce Campbell is great at dramatic, over-the-top roles, like Carrey in a lot of ways, only with more chainsaws. He's not the kind of guy who'd be in a coming of age drama about a guy just trying to be there for a girl. Nor would you want to see him in a movie like that. Let's go even further: The Rock would never star in a kid's movie. The Rock is a wrestler - it just wouldn't work. Some things just should not be, and Jim Carrey in anything dramatic is one of them.
