5. Jonah Hill Will Look And Sound Ridiculous
I think we were all exceedingly confused when it was announced that Jonah Hill would be part of this film. Yes, he was nominated for an Academy Award for his part in
Moneyball and I am not here to refute the quality of his performance or the film. However, he wasnt venturing too far out on a limb. His character, an exceptionally smart young upstart that is frequently dismissed by his peers with a tendency to dip into smartass wit, just kind of fit. Plus it was just
Moneyball, a film that was Steven Soderberghs before falling into Bennett Millers lap, a director who was really only known for
Capote; in short, the anticipation wasnt real high. But this is a Martin Scorsese film. The curiosity of how he would work out was abundant. Our first glimpse is a pretty good tease. His face pops up a few times in the trailer and boy does he lookwell special. Sporting some shiny new teeth of exquisite size and color, Hill seems to be going for broke. When we hear his voice, I dont know if it could sound anymore stereotypically New York Jewish. I was partially waiting for him to tell me that he was feeling a little verklempt. Whether it works or not, at least the kid is putting in a good effort.
