9. It Cares About The Source Material
The Wolverine is based on a limited comic book series brought together by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller, the famed arc in which Logan ventures to Japan and meets the Yashida family, just as occurs in relatively faithful capacity in the movie. Though not everything follows the same trajectory, Mangold has made a clear effort to pay adequate tribute to the source material, which is more than can be said for Gavin Hood's awful attempt to incorporate comic book elements into Origins. Who can forget Hood's depiction of Deadpool, who is the smartass douchebag from the comics (played by Ryan Reynolds) for all of five minutes before he shows up later at the end of the film with his mouth sewn up, resembling Baraka from Mortal Kombat. Not only did they take The Merc with a Mouth and
get rid of his mouth, but they basically just gave him random powers that made any self-respecting comic book fan rage like they'd never raged before.
