3. Yukio
One of the consistent areas of praise for The Wolverine is the introduction of a sidekick of sorts for Logan, in Rila Fukushima's Yukio (who was also a supporting character in the comics). Here she ends up first bringing Logan to see Yashida, and then has a future vision of him dying with his heart in his hand. Over the course of the film, they go from uneasy cohorts to dedicated protectors of one another; when Logan is vulnerable, she tries to keep him out of danger, while Logan does the same when he gets his powers back. It's a fun, interesting dynamic because the two are so starkly different, yet because Yukio proves herself as kick-ass in her own right, it manages to be fish-out-of-water fare without getting too silly. At the end of the film, we feel that the two have actually bonded, and it would be a shame if she didn't appear in some of Logan's future adventures.
