The World's End Review: 10 Insane Things You Won't Believe

4. There Is No Blood Or Ice Cream

Shaun of the Dead There were two expectations for The World's End going in, both arising from what has come before in both Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz - a) that it would be exceptionally gory and b) it would feature a cameo by Simon Pegg and Nick Frost's favourite ice cream, Cornetto. The end result, however, is that neither actually does...technically speaking, anyway. The World's End features Gary King (Pegg) and his band of pub-crawlers facing off against an army of robot body-snatchers, whose bodies are filled with a blue, ink-like substance. As far as human blood goes, there's basically none to speak of, and even when the humans are assimilated by the robots, it occurs off-screen. As for the Cornetto, there is a hilarious tease near the end of the film - a Cornetto wrapper flies past a fence which Nick Frost's Andy is peering through, but there's no sign of that creamy, chocolatey goodness in sight, and certainly not any of our intrepid heroes delighting in eating it.
