The Worst Moment Of Every James Bond Film - Ranked

5. You Only Live Twice - Bond Becomes Japanese

The World Is Not Enough
MGM

You Only Live Twice is an excellent Bond film, but it does boast one of the franchise's worst scenes ever.

In order to go undercover on a Japanese island where Blofeld's lair is located, Bond puts on lots of make-up, as well as a fake wig and fake eyebrows, in order to pass as Japanese. Is there any moment from the old James Bond films which has aged worse? To be honest, probably not.

It's by far the most racist moment in any Bond film and it's deeply, deeply uncomfortable to watch. Worse still, the make-up disappears after a few scenes, so it was completely pointless.

The flippant and weightless death of Aki, who is the main Bond Girl throughout much of the film, and the "In Japan men come first, women come second" scene are both jarring as hell too, but nothing beats this.
