Thor: The Dark World - 10 Reasons It's The Cinematic Game Of Thrones

6. The Love Triangle

Thor Lady Sif Not quite content with a universe-spanning, multi-dimensional alien space war and villain redemption story, Thor: The Dark World throws in a soap opera-esque love triangle for its earlier, pre-crisis sub plot. Unfortunately, as has been said across the critical board, this particular element ultimately goes nowhere. Beyond the setup of a few encouraging words from Odin and the odd jealous glance from Sif, the hinted love triangle - a narrative of potential character complexity that would be far from out of place in Thrones - is quickly forgotten about. Fandom stands divided on where they think Thor's romantic interests should lie, but when comparing Jane Foster's fleeting existence with his own God-like immortality, a relationship with Natalie Portman is the Asgardian equivalent of a drunken one-night stand. Still, if it works for Superman.
