6. Ares
We've already seen the Nordic pantheon in Thor's films, so maybe it's time to see the Greek pantheon. That's where Ares comes in.
One of Thor's oldest and most formidable enemies, Ares would provide a celestial counterweight to Thor. For all his goofiness, Thor is still a wise, knowledgeable god who knows all too well the woes of needless combat, violence, and unfettered ambition.
These things humbled him, destroyed his family, and, ultimately, his home. These were the things upon which Asgard was built, and it was these things that Hela would use to justify her hostile takeover of Asgard. Ares represents these things untethered. They make up the very fabric of his being -- they are the things that drive his every decision.
With Asgard in the process of recovering from not just Hela, but Thanos, we may see an ambitious Ares looking to stake his claim and make his mark on what remains. With Valkyrie as the new ruler of Asgard, she will be responsible for protecting her people, and Ares may present the perfect test to not only her, but Jane Foster and Thor, too.
