Even though it set an MCU record for the shortest time between the first footage reveal and its actual release date, fans can finally start to get excited about Thor: Love and Thunder. The Multiverse of Madness is now out the way, and we’ve been given two trailers for the 29th installment in the franchise.

It wasn’t until the second trailer that fans were given their very first look at who will be the main villain of the piece, Gorr the God Butcher. Set to be played by Christian Bale, this character genuinely has the potential to be a top-tier antagonist in the MCU.

Setting aside the, being brutally honest, devastatingly underwhelming character design, there is still every reason to be excited to see Gorr the God Butcher join the long list of MCU villains.

He has an incredible story to tell, and if even a fraction of it is adapted into his MCU debut, it should be a huge success.

Left with nothing, and no answers or help from the gods, he lost all faith. He spoke out against the unseen deities, and was cast out from his people. He had nothing, until he found his rage…
