While wandering the desert of his homeland with nothing but the small loincloth around his waist, Gorr found something that enraged him and kickstarted his quest to butcher every god in the cosmos. What he found was proof that gods were in fact real. Two deities, locked in battle with each other, fell to the ground before him.

Previously, Gorr just assumed that there were no gods, but now he had proof that they did exist, they just chose to ignore the starving people of his nameless planet. In his rage, he picked up the mysterious black weapon one of them was carrying, and killed his first god.

This weapon was All-Black, the necrosword. Something of a symbiote, the weapon bonded to Gorr and granted him immortality, strength, and the ability to fly and create an army of Black Berserkers to help in his quest to rid the universe of gods.

There were stories that the weapon's power would continue to grow for all time, until the day it blackened all of infinity. Others said it was the darkness in all gods given form. Either way you look at it, All-Black helped Gorr kill and torture gods without breaking so much as a sweat.
