Thor: Ragnarok - 10 Big Implications Of Marvel Adding Hulk

A smashing decision.

It was only a matter of time before Marvel pulled themselves together and realised that Hulk deserves more than being waved off over the horizon in a Quinjet, with a single tear for his lost lovers rolling down his cheek before he presumably smashes back in Avengers: Infinity War. With the announcement that he's probably going to appear in Thor: Ragnarok - a film billed as being hugely important for the future of the MCU - it looks like they've finally gone and done it. Information of what exactly Hulk will be doing in the film is thus far limited to supposition and wild rumour-spinning. There has been mention of a road trip movie element that will see he and Thor travel to a distant, unnamed planet for some reason, but how that fits in with Thor's attempts to sort out his naughty brother remains to be seen. But even though that specific information is missing, it is possible to piece together some pretty major implications from the revelation of Hulk's involvement, and some of the possibilities are really quite smashing...

10. The Banter Level Will Increase

According to several reports - most taking a lead from Birth Movies Death - there are some concerns that the current version of Thor: Ragnarok is too dark even for a film being billed as apocalyptic and a grim game-changer. Because what everyone needs from that sort of catastrophic event movie is more LOLs. That concern is apparently what prompted Marvel to hire comedy director Taika Waititi, as he's been charged with bringing Christopher Yost's script more in line tonally with the rest of the MCU. Perhaps it's also why Hulk's being dropped in - given his comedic dynamic with Thor in The Avengers - making for an odd riff on the buddy cop movie. With Loki moved finally to full villain status, Thor will need someone to banter with, or we'll be looking at a similar po-faced mess as The Dark World again.
