The MCU gets frequently blasted for most of its movies having a blandly formulaic visual style, to the extent that some of them, namely The Avengers and Ant-Man, effectively look like high-budget TV movies.

The first Thor is actually one of the franchise's more robust-looking efforts, though The Dark World misguidedly immersed itself in drab greyness for the most part, and might even be the ugliest MCU film to date.

Ragnarok is by far the most visually ambitious and accomplished of the three, with its acid-infused, Flash Gordon-inspired style and setting. The sets, the visual effects and the costumes all feel so distinctive and unique compared to not only the prior two Thor movies, but really any other MCU movie.
