Thor: Ragnarok - 10 WTF Comic Moments You Definitely Won't See
1. Thor, Frog Of Thunder
It says a lot about writer Walter Simonson that he was able to take a concept as silly as Thor getting turned into a frog and make it into a beloved classic story.
Another one of Loki's more fanciful plans, he used the magic sword of the demon Surtur to turn Thor into a frog and created a duplicate Thor to take the throne of Asgard.
While the concept sounds like a goofy single issue tale, Simonson turned it into an elaborate fairy tail. Thor met a tribe of talking frogs who lived in Central Park and helped them defeat an army of rats who had invaded their land.
After turning down a marriage proposal from the frog queen, Thor found Mjolnir and was able to restore his powers. He was still a frog though, but now he had a tiny helmet and hammer.
Thor then tracked down Loki and kicked his butt, still as an amphibian. He then forced his brother to change him back into an Asgardian.
The story inspired the creation of the character Throg, a completely different man who was also transformed into a frog and given a portion of Thor's powers. Along with other animal characters like Lockjaw and Falcon's falcon Redwing, he is a member of the Pet Avengers.
Also, his hammer is call Frogjolnir. Comics are amazing.
