Thor: Ragnarok - 10 WTF Comic Moments You Definitely Won't See
2. Thor Can Do Basically Anything
The parallels between Thor and Superman began way before the glasses-wearing secret identity.
Just like the Man of Steel, Thor's powers used to include pretty much whatever the story needed him to have. Highlights include the ability to project his voice from anywhere in a room (which Superman could also do), opening wormholes with Mjolnir and being able to shoot lightning from his fingers like a buff Palpatine.
And that's not even the weird stuff. When fighting against the time-traveller Zarrko the Tomorrow Man, Thor blew out a breath of air into a hurricane which was able to chase the villain across dimensions. In another story, Thor used Mjolnir to vibrate the molecules of a tank, causing it to fall apart. You would think the ability to instantly dissemble enemy artillery would be useful, but Thor never used it again.
The peak of the weirdness came in Journey Into Mystery #85. Loki transformed a group of people into photo-negative versions of themselves, which is, in and of itself, complete nonsense. Then, Thor appeared and began spinning Mjolnir to "emit anti-matter particles". The anti-matter reversed their atoms, turning the people back to normal.
Sometimes it's ok for the explantion to just be "they fixed it with magic".
