26. The Huge Cameos

The big surprise comes early in the movie (well, it's a surprise if you didn't read all those spoilers about it). When Thor returns to Asgard to discover that Loki is on the Throne in disguise as their father, he comes across Loki basically celebrating himself with a play held in his honour.

The play recounts the end of Thor: The Dark World - albeit making Loki's sacrifice out to be even more grandiose and heroic - and stunningly, Loki is played by Matt Damon. Best cameo ever.

And it's not just Damon either: Sam Neill turns up playing an actor playing Odin (he had been linked to playing another Elder of the Universe), and Luke Hemsworth (or Westworld fame) turns up as the actor playing Thor, rather smartly.
