8. Spend Less Time On Earth

The first film got a lot of mileage out of Thor's fish out of water situation on Earth, resulting in some of the film's funniest moments, but with each appearance since, Thor's grown more and more used to our world while those types of jokes have lost impact. In The Dark World, the climactic showdown between Malekith ended up taking place primarily on Earth, with some clever portal-hopping not being used to full effect. By the end of the sequel, it was clear that the most interesting scenes had occurred away from Earth, either in Asgard or elsewhere, especially when we've got characters like Iron Man and Captain America doing enough fighting on the planet in their own adventures as it is. The new film has every opportunity to leave Earth behind and really dive deep into the realms we've constantly been told about (or briefly shown). Thor has countless words to explore and a rich comics mythology to mine; in his third outing, fans should be given the chance to explore it all with him rather than see the god grounded on Earth yet again, which would also help the film to...
