Thor: Ragnarok - Hulk Is A Major Celebrity (With A Hot Tub)

No wonder he likes it on Sakaar.

Be prepared to see the Hulk in a way you've never seen him before when Thor: Ragnarok comes out.

We've already seen flashes of Hulk's fandom on Sakaar in the marketing material released ahead of Ragnarok's release (he has his own cosplaying fan element who make big papier mache versions of his head) and now we have a further hint of the appreciation the Jade Giant enjoys on the Grandmaster's planet.

According to Mark Ruffalo, the Hulk (who is now firmly in charge and has managed to keep Bruce Banner mostly at bay for the past two years), is living his best life as a celebrity. He spoke to Total Film (via Screen Geek) to confirm that he's enjoying some perks:

“Hulk has loved his time on Sakaar, and why wouldn’t he? He is adored and admired. He has a hot tub in his apartment.”

That's a fairly specific thing to mention, suggesting that we might get to see him actually enjoying his hot tub at some point in the film. Perhaps that - and the earlier revelation that Hulk is enjoying life on Sakaar - explains, partly, why he reacts to having to fight Thor the way he does in the first trailer. Perhaps he sees defeating Thor as the only way he'll be able to continue suppressing Banner and enjoying a life of luxury.

It's not like Hulk has had a great life away from Sakaar, after all. He was hounded by the military and the government, he lived under the control of Banner's constant fear that he'd lose control and rampage, he couldn't have any real relationships (the logistics alone would have been grotesquely complex) and he had to deal with the suspicions of his friends and allies. On Sakaar, he's a celebrity, he's adored for everything that makes him a source of fear on Earth, and he gets a hot tub. He has it sweet.

The suggestion, then, is that Hulk is going to actually be happy, which Thor will have to deal with in order to get him back on his side. And appealing to Banner's humanity will no doubt be the only way.
