Thor: Ragnarok Review - 9 Ups & 4 Downs
7. Korg
As Star Wars film-makers are increasingly aware, you really have to introduce a new character in sequels who can become a walking meme to help build marketing momentum (hence BB-8 being replaced by the Porgs for The Last Jedi).
In a crowded cast of newcomers - most of which are faultless - the MVP and complete scene-stealer is Korg, the Kronan warrior trapped on Sakaar who "warms up the crowd" and hints at having led at least one failed rebellion. He's voiced by Taika Waititi himself, so there's immediately a pleasant contradiction in his rocky look and his warm, lilting voice and rather than being the brutish hulk you might expect he's a hilarious, charming doofus with a good heart.
It's no exaggeration to say that Korg steals absolutely every scene he's in (he also comes with sidekick Miek - another of the Warbound from Planet Hulk's comic) and every line he delivers is designed with precisely devastating comic intentions. They all work and there's a very good chance he'll be the most talked about character once the film is out widely. And he deserves all of those plaudits.
