Thor: Ragnarok Trailer - 9 Big Questions We're Left With

2. Where's Sam Neill's Character?

When Sam Neill casually mentioned that he'd done a few days on Thor: Ragnarok, the entire Internet let out a collective "...what?"

We haven't heard anything on his role since, and this first teaser trailer does not shed any light on the subject whatsoever.

So who is he playing? It's very weird that we were treated to a look at every new cast addition, from Cate Blanchett to Jeff Goldblum, but Sam Neill was left out. Could this mean his character is important to not just this film, but to the MCU as a whole?

One possibility is that Neill is playing Surtur, the fire demon we mentioned earlier, through CGI, mo-cap or voice work.

Surtur was present in a brief showreel shown to fans at Comic-Con last year so we know he's in the movie, and the villain's immense power, imposing presence and sense of grandeur would be no trouble for an actor as talented as Neill to pull off.

Either way, it will be great to see him reunite with his Jurassic Park co-star Jeff Goldblum over 20 years later, whether they share a scene together or not.
