Titanic: How It Should Be Re-Cast In 2021

Rose is one of the most formidable characters to play in this movie. While Jack can get by just being likeable and charming, Rose needs to capture a whole smorgasbord of emotions. She needs to feel vulnerable yet rebellious, high-class yet down to Earth, desperate to find a way out yet willing to keep her family alive. Then, to top it all off, she has to add terrified and fighting for survival to that list. It's no easy feat.

However, Saoirse Ronan has made it very clear throughout her career that she can handle such characters. She shot to prominence thanks to her roles in movies like Atonement and The Lovely Bones, then had another career boost after appearing in Brooklyn, Lady Bird and Little Women. The latter two even saw her share the screen with Chalamet, proving they've got the chemistry for this leading pair.

Ronan has a great mastery of combining bravery with vulnerability, infusing her characters with a sense of strength but also a weakness that makes things challenging for them. She captures everything Rose needs to make her work.
