TOLDJA! – Further Updates on Goyer/Nolan’s SUPERMAN & BATMAN 3!!

Apologies for my Nikki Finke-like jubilation but three further updates late tonight (it's 3.13am now U.K. time and I'm hoping I can put this story and indeed myself to bed) pretty much confirm what I've been writing all day, and in some fashion - for four months. IESBconfirm that Goyer/Jonathan Nolan have completed at least a first draft of Batman 3. Remember - Chris Nolan will direct too, there's no need to speculate otherwise, if you do - you haven't been watching developments closely enough. IGN UKconfirm what I correctly predicted below as soon as the story hit - Chris Nolan has also brought on board his brother Jonathan Nolan to scribe alongside Goyer, the same team that will bring us Batman 3...

Goyer is in fact on the project, but not only that -- his The Dark Knight co-writer Jonah Nolan will also be scripting Superman: The Man of Steel along with him. Nolan's brother Christopher is expected to only executive-produce, and not direct, the film. That said, he will be "hands-on" as a producer. Since the Superman film is under the gun because of the ongoing legal entanglements involving the property, Warner Bros. wants the pair to get started on their script on the double.
Varietyconfirm that David Goyer is in talks to write the new Superman reboot...
The studio and Legendary Pictures are negotiating with David Goyer to pen a new script, tentatively titled "Man of Steel," that would help Warner Bros. get a new Superman pic on the bigscreen before it loses the copyright on the character in 2013.
Read Ray's excellent post about the hopeful story dynamics of Goyer's script. ORIGINAL UPDATE: Since I began writing this piece, Harry Knowles wrote the following...
So just a while ago I just got off the phone with Thomas Tull at Legendary Pictures who told me that the story that appeared over on LATINO REVIEW just frankly isn't true. Tull has not unilaterally hired Goyer to come in and write the new SUPERMAN. He loves Goyer, but frankly - the project isn't at the Script stage yet. Seems Nolan is still hatching some ideas. But he just wanted me to pass on that they have the highest enthusiasm for this project, but the story on Latino just isn't accurate. I'll see what more I can find out, but as of right now, there really isn't anything else to tell.
My take: Nolan has pitched an idea to Warner Bros. for where he would like to take the character and has recommended David Goyer (and likely his brother Jonathan Nolan) to write the script. WB are probably thinking it over, no doubt tempted by the allure of repeating their Batman success. END OF UPDATE: Before I begin - why is everyone so surprised that Bryan Singer has been booted off the Superman franchise and that the new movie will be a reboot of the character? We've known this since August 2008!!! - and in the time since a disappointingly rejected new trilogy from Kick-Ass writer Mark Millar for director Matthew Vaughn has already been and gone. Warner Bros. have been encouraging pitches from anyone with a good idea for well over a year now but have turned down everything that has come there way, and have recently asked Chris Nolan to help them piece a reboot together. I just don't understand the shock among my peers at the no Singer/Routh news... Was tonight's news then the first creative decision made by Chris Nolan since he came on board as the consultant to the Superman film franchise earlier this month? - You betcha! When Nolan, a casual fan of the Batman character was first given the chance to direct the caped crusader at Warner Bros - he knew he needed some help and sought out the biggest comic book fan he could find; someone who understood exactly what he was looking to do with his adaptation. He met with David Goyer, whose take on Batman was exactly the same as his own. So it is of course entirely unsurprising to find out that Goyer has been hired to write the script for a new Superman movie as Nolan's first creative decision as "the Godfather of the Superman movies". Goyer will know the character, of course - and Nolan completely trusts him as a writer. I would expect him to work closely with Jonathan Nolan on putting together the new Superman character, which COULD still end up in the hands of Christopher Nolan after he is done withBatman 3. Warner Bros. would most certainly offer the world to Nolan in exchange for him helming The Man of Steel. Goyer himself would be another possibility but his directing credits (Blade Trinity, The Unborn) don't quite live up to this writing ones (Batman Begins, Dark City).
