Tom Cruise: 5 Awesome Performances and 5 That Sucked

2. Roy Miller/Matthew Knight - Knight and Day

knight and day Knight and Day is so bad it has you questioning if Tom Cruise ever had charisma at all. It's preposterously lazy and stuffed beginning to end with mindless cheese and Cruise is probably the worst thing about it. He and Cameron Diaz have nothing spark between them. This is to be expected with Diaz who is irritating and one-tone in everything, but we expect more of Cruise. He may spend the entire movie cheerily smiling, but its clear from the off, he's in it for the lavish pay cheque. Cruise spends much of the movie doing that same reprehensible, smug act he spent the duration of Days of Thunder doing, only this time, there's no mildly entertaining Tony Scott directed set-pieces. There's a whole load of implausible, overworked, visually nauseating action sequences that are neither funny nor dramatic. It's 109 minutes long but feels like hours. It can be summed up best as: 109 minutes of Cameron Diaz shrieking and Tom Cruise running. It's just a shoddy, poorly acted, poorly shot mess.
