12. Trinity

At this point, Richard Croft tells Lara that Trinity, a shadowy organisation from the video games which seeks to control the world, has business with the tomb, and if they succeed in whatever their plan is, the world is in danger. Lara's father makes her promise him to stop them...despite him being dead and therefore unable to hear her promise (which she makes out loud regardless).

Some clips are then shown off of various Trinity soldiers causing mayhem, and one has to consider whether or not a Tomb Raider movie really needs to have end of the world stakes. Would a more personal, pared down story not have sufficed?

It's cool to hear Trinity namedropped, but do we really need this "you are the only one who can save the world" nonsense? Hmmm.
