3. The 40 Year-Old Virgin (Steve Carell)

Though like most Apatow films, The 40 Year-Old Virgin had its fair share of improvisational dialogue, you cant take the writing credit away from the first time director Judd Apatow and the lovable Steve Carell. Back in 2005 Carell was on the up having just starred in Bruce Almighty and Anchorman, yet hed not had top billing just yet. The 40 Year-Old Virgin would go on to secure him a place in Hollywoods elite. The film is plagued by actors insecurities and has that playful teen edge (after all its about the dreaded virginity). Apatow allows Carells script to flourish and it all makes for one superb film. That's enough Apatow for one article.
