6. Terminator 2: Judgement Day

Type of time travel: Past Mode of transport: Some kind of machine A sequel that built on the ideas of the first Terminator. Instead of just rehashing old ideas and familiar elements from the earlier film, James Cameron chooses to expand upon the ideas of time travelparticularly the ideas of fate and inevitability as the main characters do their best to stop a future robotic revolution that hardly even seems feasible in the present day of 1995. The notion that Edward Furlongs John Connor already knows his destiny as the last great hope of a revolution against the robots of the future is an intriguing one. The idea that you could know your future is something that humans have always wanted, but in T2 James Cameron explores the negatives of such knowledge and the precarious nature of destiny.
