7. Groundhog Day
Type of time travel: Loop to the past Mode of transport: Unknown Not a traditional time travel movie, it is still being included in this list for a few reasonsthe chief reason being that it concerns going back to the past and changing events. Of course the original idea here is that the main character is stuck in a time loop and must find a way out of itbut none the less it still deals with the ideas of going back in time and changing things for the better. There is a large debate as to how long Bill Murrays character is actually stuck in the time loop, with some people claiming it to be well over 30 years (What Culture's Simon Gallagher famously mused that it was ). Its also interesting that the films director, Harold Ramis, decided not to actually explain the time loopit was supposedly a voodoo curse by the wayand instead concentrates on Bill Murrays character and his journey from egotistical jerk weatherman to the understanding and caring man he becomes whilst being trapped in the time loop.
