1. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
At the head of this list comes the first entry in a series of book-to-film adaptations that have proved more controversial than most in weeks gone by. Peter Jackson confirmed back in July that The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey would be the first in a trilogy of prequel films to his The Lord Of The Rings series, which in a modern world of cynicism sent the majority of "fans" into cash-grab assumption overdrive. Im in the minor category of actually looking forward to all three films, welcoming the expansion- in fact, given the placement of the first flick on the list, I think youll realise that thats something of an understatement. We know that An Unexpected Journey will cover the first six chapters of the novel, so that means well see Gollum, the White Council and many other iconic elements of the lore within the first part. Perhaps the prequel opener will flop - to be honest, that seems pretty unlikely though, seeing as The Unexpected Journey looks like to be the most promising film of the next few months! And boy, wasnt yesterdays trailer reveal something? Released on December 14th. Special mentions go to Wreck-It Ralph, Les Miserables and Lincoln, three equally exciting film productions that have just missed their late 2012 slot in the UK due to scheduling issues.
