Top 10 Tarantino Films Not Directed by Quentin Tarantino
3. Sin City
When the previews for "Sin City" first emerged on the net, I traveled to Midtown Comics in New York and picked up all of the novels the film was based on. I tore through them in two days and couldn't quite put them down. As far as adaptations go, "Sin City" is 95 percent faithful to the graphic novels. It omits certain details and redesigns certain characters but the film is shockingly loyal to the graphic novels, including the black and white aesthetic with the splashes of color for stark effect.
"Sin City" is a film very much in the nature of Tarantino. In fact, there's a very short sequence directed by the man himself. In either case, "Sin City" is about a group of very despicable people, features a series of segments that connect in to a very diverse universe draped in crime and corruption, and of course like Tarantino, Miller loves to depict his femmes as vicious, sexy, and capable of rolling with the big boys any time they want. Every character has their own personal journey, and every character is played by a very prominent supporting actor or veteran.
In the end, "Sin City" is Robert Rodriguez's "Pulp Fiction" and it's a bang up masterpiece.
