Top 10 Tarantino Films Not Directed by Quentin Tarantino

2. From Dusk Til Dawn

This is kind of a cheat since the film is basically a collaborative effort between Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez. While the script is penned by Tarantino himself, this isn't a Tarantino film per se. It's very much a Rodriguez film with the Mexican set pieces, the appearance of Rodriguez's band, cameos from all of his friends, and the over abundance of characters. Thankfully Tarantino is capable of handling multiple characters with ease and gives "From Dusk Til Dawn" a surreal tone.

The first half of the film is a crime thriller involving two mentally unstable criminals on the lam who happen to be brothers, making their way across the country. George Clooney is practically a lost character from "Reservoir Dogs" and Tarantino pretty much repeats the role of Mr. Brown with a much more perverse personality.

Then all of a sudden Tarantino drops the brothers, as well as a helpless family they've taken hostage, in to Rodriguez land where the film essentially takes on the flavor of a typical Rodriguez film. Like Tarantino's films, there are endless scenes of dialogue, an array of pop culture references, a slew of colorful supporting characters, and cameos from B movie veterans, all of whom must battle the hordes of blood thirsty vampires in a strip club. My personal favorite character of the bunch is Tom Savini as the ass kicking Sex Machine. It's arguably a genre classic and one of my all time favorite action horror films.
