Top 20 Movie Posters of 2012

11. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

The Hobbit released a series of traditional character posters and one sheets, all harkening back to the imagery and style of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. However, the marketing team also quietly released this series of beautifully rendered charcoal hand-drawn character posters to promote the IMAX release. Bonus points for the entire poster being in Elvish as well. thehobbit2

10. Anna Karenina

This poster so successfully captures the lavish exuberance and lush imagery of the film it's startling. It simply conveys the love triangle portrayed in the film and even establishes the unique staging of this particular adaptation (the film is notably set on a stage and in the wings of an abandoned theater). Plus, it is just a vivid, gorgeously detailed image that I can just stare at forever. annakarenina2
