9. The Dark Knight Rises
Lately, many films have been releasing exclusive IMAX promotional posters at midnight IMAX screenings as a sort of special perk to keep fans excited (and possibly to buy a little good faith from them when they tell their friends about the movie later). This poster of Bane is just downright unsettling - it's dark, gritty, creepy (all things the film could have used more of, ironically), and really gives the brilliant Joker posters from The Dark Knight a run for their money.
8. Django Unchained
Tarantino always has an eye for poster design, and this is no exception. This beautiful throwback design - echoing the graphic style of legendary designer Saul Bass - is, again, remarkably effective and beautiful in its simplicity: big letters, bold colors, and a simple, concise graphic design to sell the look and feel of the film.
7. ParaNorman
This year saw the release of not one but two underrated, endlessly charming stop-motion animation films, both of which resorted to hand-drawn techniques for their more creative posters. This is one of the most striking hand-drawn designs of the year, featuring beautiful, colorful renditions of the film's characters and perfectly capturing its youthful-yet-sinister energy.
