Top 5 Most Over-Saturated Actors of Recent Times

3. Benedict Cumberbatch

Fan-Cast As: Dr. Strange, The Vision, James Bond, A James Bond Villain, Martian Manhunter, Any Role Alan Rickman is Too Old For Yes. I've seen Sherlock. And, yes, he's sensational in it. And, yes, I've seen Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. And while he's doubly good in that, I don't see how that role catapults him into the villainous typecasting he's been getting of late. He'll already be providing the voice of the dragon in Peter Jackson's Hobbit films, and he's the baddie in the upcoming Star Trek sequel under JJ Abrams, so he's getting his deserved exposure, we should have no worries about that. But we've got to take his name off practically every list just because he's a great actor. He's distinguishable and elegant, but James Bond? A Bond villain, perhaps, or possibly a Q, but I certainly don't see him sporting about as the secret agent. And while he's apparently becoming a top-player for Dr. Strange, I'm afraid that I find him a bit too distinguishable for that role, as well. I'll say this: I've yet to see him miscast, so I think I'll refrain from keeping him out of my fantasy-league casting parties, because I'm not sure I'd know what to do with him.

Cameron Carpenter is an aspiring screenwriter, current film and journalism student, and self-diagnosed cinephile, which only sounds bad in certain circles. Devoted fan of comics, movies, theater, Jesus Christ, Sidney Lumet, and Peter O'Toole, he sometimes spends too much time on his Scribd and comicbookmovie.com, but doesn't think you're one to judge, devoted reader. You can follow him on Twitter to watch him talk to people you didn't know exist. Oh, and Daredevil is quite the big deal around here (my head).
