TOP TEN: Fictional Presidents of the United States

7. PRESIDENT MERKIN MUFFLEY

As seen in DR. STRANGELOVE (Played by PETER SELLERS) President Merkin Muffley is deserving of a place on this list purely for having one of the greatest names in the history of cinema. The President named after a pubic wig from Stanley Kubrick's classic Cold War satire DR. STRANGELOVE was played by the legendary Peter Sellers, one of three roles he portrays in the film. Sellers reportedly based the snivelling Muffley on Aldai Stevenson a Democrat who had failed in elections in the fifties, he also exaggerated symptoms of a cold to make Muffley look like the weak man he is, but Kubrick instead wanted the President to be a more straight character, an odd request considering his name.
