Toy Story 4: 19 Easter Eggs & References Explained
19. RMR F97
Toy Story 4's opening flashback sequence is visually stunning enough that you might've missed an Easter egg hiding in plain sight. The license plate of the car which pulls up to take Bo Peep (Annie Potts) and co. away reads, "RMR F97."
And Pixar fans should know by now that a license plate in their movies almost always means something.
In this case, producer Mark Nielsen revealed that the sequence is in fact the code infamously inputted by a clumsy Pixar employee during production of Toy Story 2, which deleted the film from the render farm and very nearly resulted in the film being cancelled entirely.
Thankfully, a pregnant employee had a backup copy of the film on her home computer, which had to be gently driven to Pixar HQ in order to save the movie.
Producer Jonas Rivera said, "It felt appropriate that the license plate on the car that takes Bo away would be the same that killed Toy Story 2."
