Trailer: RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES

There's been something of a question mark hanging over the head of Fox's Rise of the Planet of the Apes, not least because they suffered an identity crisis over a title but also because it was troubling to really define what it actually was. Is the movie a prequel, a sequel, a reboot? Two of the above? And then there was the controversial decision to go with digital apes over the much lauded ape make-up and costumes that is still the defining signature aspect of the series that has worked through all seven movies to date, and one of the few things in the Tim Burton movie that worked. And a non-commercial, more sci-fi cerebral concept, a director who is unknown to many (Rupert Wyatt) and we weren't exactly ready to declare our love to the idea of this new film. Until maybe now, anyway... After yesterday's sneak peek at the movie which now seems particularly pointless as Apple have just released a full-length trailer for the movie and finally we get to see these apes close-up, how the story will play out, how James Franco's scientist character fits into it all and I think it's neat. For the story they are telling which I must admit has me really intrigued, I can't imagine this story being told by the apes of before. It had to be these primates. They had to look like this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asMgeS2pYE8 Rise of the Planet of the Apes is due for release August 5th.
