We know from the first trailer that Will is nearly assassinated by an anti-technology group called RIFT, and that the attack is what leads to his transcendence. What we didn't know was what they stood for, why they attacked him, or who was part of the organisation. Thanks to this trailer, we're a step closer to those answers. The first trailer seemed to suggest that Will was the target, because the organisation was afraid of the research he'd been working on. Now we know that they're against technologically-dependent evolution and are attacking AI centers around the country. "They're determined to stop any attempt at what you call Transcendence." People speculated about who among the film's cast was part of RIFT, particularly Cillian Murphy. Many thought he might be one of the terrorists, but now it appears he's some kind of government official who informs Will's teams of RIFT's activities and goals. We also know that RIFT may not be so radical after all. Yes, killing people may not be the answer, but judging by the damage Will's transcendence causes, they're right to question his ambition.
