4. Keep It 2D

3D is an agonising trend of contemporary cinema that probably isn't going away soon, despite having only been used effectively a handful of times (we're thinking Avatar, How to Train Your Dragon etc), and mostly serving as a crass way for studios to skim some more cash off the top. While we didn't exactly expect Michael Bay to film Transformers: Dark of the Moon in 3D - given the
massive impracticalities of shooting those set-pieces with cumbersome 3D cameras - the end result reflected its post-converted nature, with the 3D producing some garish ghosting, and essentially detracting from the whole experience, making it a far better film to watch in the comfort of your own home. Of course, we expect that TF4 will end up being released in 3D, because why not? When the previous film in a series grosses over $1bn in 3D, there's no way you're not going to take advantage of that, so we can just hope that somehow, the 3D bubble bursts within the next year or so before post-production begins, but of course, it absolutely will not.
