Transformers 4: 10 Things It Needs

3. No Goofy Humour

Probably the most insufferable element of the Transformers films to date has been the awkward, goofy, inane, often offensive level of humour Michael Bay expects us to tolerate. Though his Bad Boys films were packed with gawdy, immature jokes, at least they were funny most of the time, whereas here it's primarily milking the awkwardness of Sam's nicey-nice parents who either embarrass Sam, or end up embarrassing themselves - it's usually both. This dumb brand of comedy is just so, so needless; all it does is pad out an already extremely bloated script, and frankly, who the Hell comes to these films for the laughs anyway? People go to see Transformers for the awesome levels of destruction and clashing metal; removing these headache-inducing plays for cheap laughs will not change that. Well, one thing's for sure - with no Sam this time, we won't ever have to set our eyes upon the two insufferable characters above ever again. Hopefully.
