Transformers 5: 10 Changes That Need To Happen

10. Michael Bay Absolutely Needs To Step Down As Director

For all the flak that Michael Bay receives in pop culture and satirical comedy, the guy isn't a bad director, but he still needs to let the franchise go and hand the reins over to another director. If early reports are to be believed, this entry seems to already be a change that has come true, but considering Bay has stated before that he won't be returning to directing duties only to go back on earlier statements - we're going to take these reports with a grain of salt. There's only so much a single franchise can endure under a singular vision of one person. Bay's efforts in trying to create an unparalleled, successful special effects bonanza have certainly been successful, but everything else has, so far, been rather lackluster. Narrative focus, character development, continuity and an adherence to the roots of the Transformers universe have all taken a backseat in favour of trying to blow up as much stuff as possible in as many ways as possible. Credit where credit's due though; Age Of Extinction did attempt to do away with some of the more annoying aspects of the first trilogy, but it still failed to be the complete overhaul that the crew had been talking about prior to the film's release. Bay should have, arguably, handed director duties to someone else after the release of Dark Of The Moon - starting the second trilogy with a fresh set of eyes - but there's still time to rectify many of the mistakes present in the current films.
