9. Space Battles
Paramount PicturesDespite the overall film not being particularly good at all, Age of Extinction ends on the most interesting tease for a Transformers sequel yet, as Optimus Prime flies into space with the Seed, sending a message to his so-called "Creators" that they should leave Earth be, and that he is coming for them. This leaves a natural set-up for a large portion of TF5 to take place in outer space, likely on a version of Cybertron. Though we'd be quite happy for the entire movie to take place there with the humans left out of the picture entirely, that's just not going to happen. Still, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has expressed a strong interest in a space part of the movie, suggesting "It offers...an opportunity I guess to do something in space if you wanted to, because the notion of terraforming is you can do it in space." Regardless of the specifics, an entire movie set around Optimus searching space for his creators would certainly be a lot more entertaining than something in a similar vein to AoE. Hopefully Optimus' journey won't simply be sewn up in a 3-minute montage at the start of TF5, but we'll have to wait and see. After the catastrophe that was AoE, one of the few ways Bay and Kruger can drum up fan interest in buying a ticket for the fifth film is to emphasise the space aspect, and it would be a dire mistake not to.
