15. Original Optimus Prime Freightliner
Paramount Pictures & Sunbrow ProductionsMichael Bay angered a lot of Transformers fanboys from the moment the first production stills began to leak out from the original movie, as it became clear that the director didn't really care about staying faithful to the classic look of each individual character. Easily earning him the most ire was the fact that Optimus Prime didn't have the red "cab-over" Freightliner truck from the comics, but it was instead a Peterbilt truck with some garish flames painted on it. This wasn't the Optimus fans knew and loved, and so they opted to name Bay's version a "Bayformer". We do, however, see something better-resembling the classic Optimus early on in the movie, even if it is caked in dirt and rust, in an obvious attempt to halfway-pacify those fans upset by Bay's decision. Of course, though, it's not too long before Optimus ends up fixing himself and again doesn't really resemble the cartoon version at all. Still, it was nice for the short time that it lasted.
