BOX OFFICE: TRANSFORMERS is a huge success
No matter how you slice it up, TRANSFORMERS is one of the big successes of 2007 and is likely to be the start of a multi movie franchise which will dominate the summer months for years to come.

The movie currently stands at a total of $152.5 million after 6 and a half days (there were some screenings last Monday but it's unfair to call it a full release date). The movie took home a massive $67.6 million over the weekend which was a great achievement considering it had already run for a good number of days. It's difficult to ignore the facts. The majority of reviews have come back really strong and the movie has made a ton of money for a non-franchised sequel. Transformers is a big success. (a couple of people have asked me if i've seen it yet... Sat 22nd looks to be the earliest I can see it. Movie doesn't get a release in the U.K. till 27th). Pixar's Ratatouille, the best reviewed movie of the year took home $29 million, only dropping 38 percent from it's debut weekend. A different kind of audience to Transformers and Die Hard meant it wasn't really harmed by either, though it still is the lowest money making Pixar movie for quite some time. The truly awful Live Free or Die Hard dropped just under 50% to earn $17.4 million for the weekend, around $16 million short of the $100 million mark. And proof that audiences aren't wowed by Pirates as much as last year. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End has just crossed the $300 million mark after 44 days of release.
