Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts Review: 4 Ups & 6 Downs

4. The Maximals Steal The Show
This movie was largely sold on its incorporation of the Transformers' much-loved Beast Wars storyline, and so in the very least the Maximals do end up stealing every single scene they're in.
Though the Cybertronian animals do admittedly sit out most of the movie's first half, they're a sure delight every time they show up, lending some much-needed added personality to the robot-socking shenanigans.
As their leader, the amusingly-monikered Optimus Primal (voiced with sure relish by Ron Perlman) cuts a great presence on-screen, enough that you might wish he was the main character rather than Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen) or any of the humans.
While the film absolutely could've done more with the beasts of its title, their inclusion here certainly leaves you wanting more of them.
