In an era where it feels like every damn blockbuster is at least 140 minutes long, it's always refreshing when a mega-budget movie gets in and out in a more contracted amount of time.

To that end, Rise of the Beasts is just 127 minutes long, and even with its many issues, has the good sense to move from one scene to the next with a reasonable expedience.

You're never left waiting too long between action sequences, and it never gets excessively bogged down in any one aspect of its story, even with some of its more wordy exposition dumps.

By the time the movie starts ramping up for its finale, you'll probably be surprised that it's already almost over, and in the woefully bloated modern blockbuster landscape, that's certainly something to commend.
