The next thing we see, paired with Hopkins' "without sacrifice, there can be no victory" narration, are several quick shots of various historical wars. The first appears to take place in the middle ages, with rows of archers preparing to fire flaming arrows. There's also a quick shot of some warriors kitted out with chain mail and wooden shields.

The next scene takes place in Nazi Germany, and sees a several explosions in front of a building draped with Swastika flags. The third and final scene is likely fairly modern, potentially representing the conflict in Iraq. The main question, then, is obvious: how does all of this fit into the movie? Are there going to be war flashbacks? Will it turn out the Transformers (or related machines) were present during these wars?

The scenes will definitely play some significant role in the film, as there was quite a bit of controversy surrounding the filming of the Nazi scenes, which took place at Blenheim Palace, the home of British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill. According to director Michael Bay, Churchill is depicted in the film as being a big hero.

Intruiging, if not slightly convoluted.
