Ironically, this top spot death is the dumbest of the other four on this list. All because of Hot Rod. The actual fight between Megatron and Optimus at Autobot City is actually as comically brutal as any of their encounters, but the following scene where Optimus passes the Matrix onto Ultra Magnus and turns to grey gives parents the perfect reason why so many children, on seeing this, locked themselves in their room cuddling up to their Optimus Prime toys. Much like Armada, and Generation 2, and Revenge of the Fallen, Prime would very much return. First as a zombie, then in a more permanent role, but in this first instance where Optimus Prime was killed off, he was dead for a substantially long time when compared to the other deaths on this list. Such a prolonged absence gave the very first Prime's very first death a massive amount of impact which many other deaths in the Transformers world would struggle to top, but these five deaths provide a wide array of manners and styles in which our favourite Transformer is often forced to take to that big robot heaven in the sky.
