TV Spot for SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK
Previews are due to begin on Sunday at the Foxwoods Theatre on Broadway for Julie Taymor's controversial superhero show Spider-Man: Turn off The Dark, which officially opens on January 11th, 2011. At this point, I haven't enjoyed a great deal of the promotional material or Taymor's revealed intentions for the 'rock musical' (music provided by Bono and The Edge.... eugh) but have been happy enough knowing that this show exists, if nothing else so that it might entice more creative talents to take a stab at other characters - such as the more appealing sounding Batman Live next year. Brendon Connelly has stumbled across the first tv spot for the show which gives us a great first glimpse at the villains Kraven the Hunter, Carnage and Green Goblin. Brendon writes; "It seems like Taymor is keeping the villains at an arms length from reality, like nightmares, figments, representations".... and I would agree there does seem to be something Expressionistic about her designs in a Tim Burton/Batman Returns kind of way... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-zWVtw7mVU
